Writing for the LetRelay blog
Real people writing about real work: research, building things, running teams. Here is what we publish and how it works.
What we publish
- Your own work and experience. A study you ran, a system you built, a team you led, a lesson you learned the hard way.
- Written for smart readers outside your niche. Explain jargon, show numbers, say why it matters.
- At least 700 words, in the sections the editor gives you. Most strong posts are 1,000–2,000 words.
- Original. Not published elsewhere, not copied, not generated by AI and pasted in. You may use tools to check spelling.
What we don’t publish
- Posts written mainly to place links, sell something, or rank a website.
- Anything defamatory, hateful, misleading about health or safety, or that breaks someone’s privacy or copyright.
- Photos you didn’t take or don’t have the right to share.
How review works
- Your draft saves as you type and stays private. Nobody sees it until you press Send for review.
- An editor reads it, usually within a few days. You get an email with the decision.
- The editor may publish it, send it back with a note (you make the changes and send again), or decline it.
- After it’s live you can edit it or add dated updates any time. The live version stays as it is until the editor approves the change.
- You can take your post down yourself, at any time, without asking.
Your words stay yours
The editor never rewrites your text. Before publishing they may only adjust the structure (section headings and their order), add or place images, and set the post’s web address, tags and search description. If anything in your text needs to change, it comes back to you.
Contributor terms
Version 2026-10-16. You accept these when you send a post for review.
- You keep the copyright. You give LetRelay a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, display, format, and share your post (and the photos you add) on the LetRelay blog, its feeds, newsletters and social channels, with your name. The licence ends for new uses when you take the post down; copies already shared (for example in a sent newsletter) may remain.
- You confirm the post is your own original work, hasn’t been published elsewhere, and that you have the right to share every photo in it.
- Your profile is honest. Your name, title, organization and links describe you truthfully.
- Editorial control. LetRelay decides what it publishes and may remove a post that breaks these guidelines. Links in posts are marked for search engines as user-written (
ugc nofollow). - No payment. Writing for the blog is unpaid, and doesn’t create any employment or agency relationship.
- Privacy. We show your name, photo, headline, organization, bio and the links you add. Your email address is never shown publicly; we use it only to tell you about your posts. See the privacy policy.
- You can delete your writer profile from your profile page: your posts come down and your drafts and photos are deleted.
